Sowohl landschaftlich als auch für Wildlife ist die Insel Spitzbergen ein absolutes Highlight. Fotografisch gibt es rund um die Uhr zahlreiche Möglichkeiten faszinierende Aufnahmen zu tätigen.

Svalbard Archipel

Das Svalbard Archipel liegt rund 960 km vom Nordpol entfernt und ist das beste Gebiet um Eisbären in ihrer natürlichen Umgebung zu sehen.
Die langen Tage im Sommer ermöglichen intensive Wildlife-Fotografie. Im Juni gibt es 24 h Sonnenlicht.
Großteils ist mit ruhigem Wetter zu rechnen es gibt zu dieser Jahreszeit kaum Stürme.
Dieses raue Stück Land kommt durch die Blumen-, Tier- und Vogelwelt zum Leben
Im Sommer ist mit Temperaturen zwischen 0-8 °C zu rechnen.

Longyearbyen

Die Hauptstadt vom Svalbard Archipel ist das Tor zur Arktis. Die nördlichste Stadt der Welt ist Heimat von ca. 2.500 Menschen aus ca. 60 unterschiedlichen Ländern. Damit ist diese Stadt ein wahrer Mix an kulturellem Reichtum. Es gibt einige gute Hotels, Museen und schöne Kaffees. Außerdem können in unmittelbarer Nähe der Stadt Vögel und andere Tiere beobachtet werden.

Zeitplan: Flexibilität ist der Schlüssel

Tag 1: Ankunft in Longyearbyen

Nach der Ankunft am Flughafen in Longyearbyen, gibt es den Transfer zum Hotel. Anschließend gibt es die Möglichkeit die Stadt und dessen nähere Umgebung auf eigene Faust zu erkunden. Museum, Kaffee, Pubs oder auch einfach nur die Zeit genießen. Am Abend gibt es die Möglichkeit einer optionalen Birding Tour zu folgen. Ideal zum Aufspüren der nordischen Lebewesen unter der Mitternachtssonne. Später gibt es ein Welcome Dinner, wo wir uns gemeinsam versammeln und die weiteren Expeditionsgäste, Tour-Leader und Mentoren kennenlernen.

Tag 2-8: Arktische Expedition an Board der MS QUEST

Nach dem Frühstück gibt es noch ein wenig Zeit zur freien Verfügung, bevor wir gegen 10:00 Uhr einer exklusiven Stadtführung in Longyearbyen teilnehmen können. Wir besuchen den einzigartigen Global Seed Vault und lernen mehr über die reiche Kultur von Svalbard.

Im Anschluss an das Mittagessen begeben wir uns auf unser Schiff, das für die nächsten Tage unser zu Hause sein wird. Wir machen uns in den Kabinen gemütlich und beastunen die Landschaft und Tierwelt während wir den Isfjord durchqueren. Unser Abenteuer beginnt!

Von hier an startet unsere Expedition in die arktische Landschaft. Unsere Route richtet sich stark nach den äußeren Rahmenbedingungen und Eiskonditionen. Außerdem entscheiden Tiersichtungen unseren Verlauf. Wir nutzen jede Gelegenheit die besten Fotomöglichkeiten zu bekommen und Tiere, wie Landschaft aus den besten Winkeln zu fotografieren. Flexibilität ist der entscheidende Erfolgsfaktor.

Jeden Tag gibt es Morgens und Abend ein briefing von Captain und Expedition Leader, die aktuelle Pläne und Ideen mit uns teilen. Unser Ziel ist es Zodiac fahrten, Landungen und nahe Wildtierbeobachtungen zu ermöglichen. Diese Mischung ermöglicht ideale Fotobedingungen.

Tag 9 Abschied aus der Arktik - Longyearbyen

Genieße ein letztes Frühstück auf der MS Quest bevor wir wieder in Longyearbyen anlegen. Wir verlassen das Schiff am 22.Juni 27 bis 9 Uhr. Transfers zum Flughafen oder in die Stadt werden organisiert.

Mit unvergesslichen Eindrücken verlassen wir die hohe Arktis.

LONGYEARBYEN : Gateway to the Arctic

Longyearbyen is the administrative capital of Svalbard and a well-known Arctic destination. The world’s northernmost town is home to an international population of approximately 2,500 people and roughly 60 nationalities are represented. . Visitors to Longyearbyen will be amazed by the vibrant cultural offerings, forces of nature and the town's historical monuments. There are few good hotels, we advice to arrive a day to two before the expedition, to acclimatise and explore Museum, Market & Souvenir Shops, Pubs , Restaurants, birds & other wildlife. Longyearbyen airport is north most commercial airport, we can reach via Oslo.

ITINERARY : FLEXIBILITY IS KEY!!

Day 1: Arrival in Longyearbyen – Gateway to the Arctic

Arrive in Longyearbyen, the northernmost town of its size in the world. Transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time to explore this fascinating Arctic settlement at your own pace. Wander through local markets, museums, cafés, and pubs that reflect the unique character of life at the edge of the polar world.

In the evening, guests may join an optional guided birding walk, ideal for spotting Arctic species under the midnight sun. Later, gather for a welcome dinner, where you will meet your fellow expedition members and tour leaders and receive an introduction to the journey ahead.

Day 2–8: Arctic Expedition Cruising aboard MS Quest

After breakfast, enjoy some leisure time in Longyearbyen. Around 10:00 AM, we depart on an exclusive guided city tour, visiting notable sites such as historic coal mines, the iconic Global Seed Vault, and other points of interest that reveal Svalbard’s unique history and strategic importance.

Following lunch, we embark MS Quest, settle into our cabins, and sail through Isfjorden—marking the true beginning of our Arctic adventure.

From here on, the expedition unfolds in true polar style. Our route and daily activities are shaped by weather, sea ice, and wildlife encounters, allowing us to make the most of every opportunity nature presents. Flexibility is the heart of expedition travel.

Each day includes a morning and evening briefing, during which the Captain and Expedition Leader share plans based on the latest conditions. Our goal is to enjoy daily Zodiac cruises, close wildlife encounters, and shore landings whenever possible, offering exceptional experiences for photographers and nature enthusiasts alike.

Potential areas we may explore include (subject to conditions):

Virgohamna, Danskøya – Historic polar exploration sites
Majestic Arctic fjords with glaciers and seabird cliffs

Final Day: Farewell to the Arctic – Longyearbyen

Enjoy a final breakfast onboard as MS Quest returns to Longyearbyen. Disembarkation will be completed by 09:00 hrs on 22 June 2027. Transfers will be arranged to the airport or town hotels as you bid farewell to the Arctic—taking home unforgettable memories of one of the planet’s most pristine regions.
